Love his imagination lol This one deserves it's own post!

The weatherboard stop.

IMG_1189
The vertical line in the boards to show where old meets new. Although it's technically "in the wrong spot" because the back of the old house is actually where the laundry door is now. There was a slight issue with levels and the walls not being straight enough so with some consultation with the building surveyor, we came to an agreement to have the weatherboard stop at the line of the original house and not at the end of the rear lean to extension that was done "possibly in the 60's". I hope that makes sense?

Windows are in!

Trev and J had a productive morning putting in the windows. We decided to paint the outside edge of the frames, then put them in and paint the rest in situ.
This is the main bathroom. It looks really small in the photos but it is long and narrow, so looks are deceiving a bit here.

J has been busy re-cladding the opposite side. We have sorted through the weatherboards and reused the ones that are good enough to go back on the house. Surprisingly there was quite a few!

It's a window extravaganza!

They have arrived!
Our plan was to have them painted because we did the stained timber windows (and architraves) thing in our last house. We wanted a change for this house but these new windows look so nice it's a struggle, but we are sticking firm with the plan to paint. We have chosen Antique White USA in gloss for the interior and the exterior will be Evening Haze in satin (that will match the gutters).
They smell fantastic too because they are cedar. Walking into the shed is like walking into a sauna ;)

While the girly is at kinder, I very carefully started to disassemble them so we can begin painting. They are also amazingly heavy so all I was able to move on my own with my twiggy little arms, was these tiny ones that will go in the ensuite and toilet.
It's quite a daunting task seeing as we have 15 windows/doors in total, including a very large casement set and a bifold stacker set in the back room.
While I was pottering about in the shed with the windows, the boys were making great progress on the roof. J the carpenter has been busy creating the new valleys for where the new roof will meet the old one.

Depressed about the front door :(

I pulled the architrave off and it's all rotted out. Amazing what 30 odd coats of paint can hide.
We have a hole that goes through to the inside under the cricket bat panel (a custom entry for the ratties perhaps) and also a hole that goes through the threshold. The rest seems OK but I won't know for sure till I get the rest of the paint off, so I'm looking into what I can get to repair it. IMG_1137
