Happy to announce that our letter from the building surveyor arrived today and he's inspected and passed it! Yay!
It feels so good to have this major part of our project done, paid for and passed so that we can get on with the rest of it!
The next stage is getting the house to lock up.
The last couple of days it has rained bucket loads which really isn't all that good when the plumbers have planned to put the roof on this week. Forecast for the next couple of days is low 20's with isolated showers. As I type this the sun is shining so I hope it stays that way *cross fingers*.
The roofing materials arrived yesterday and had a thorough rinsing while stacked on the lawn and I don't think it needs to be rinsed again thanks rain Gods! Well at least not until it's actually a roof ;)

It pains me to see people strip paint with a heat gun, for our 100 yo house I invested in an infrared paint stripper.
ReplyDeleteIf you intend to reuse the old weatherboards I can't recommend them highly enough. 2 passes and you are down to timber and the lead stays safely encapsulated in the paint.
No association just a great product that is little known. as for price cheaper than sandpaper and paint stripper. Think you can hire them from Kennards.
Cheers :)
Thanks for your comment JB :) I don't like using the heat gun either. I discovered that it doesn't remove varnish that I found underneath the paint around the sidelights on Sunday so I was lamenting about needing to use chemical stripper so I welcome another option!
ReplyDeleteWe have plenty of weatherboards to clean up also. We only have coates hire down here so I hope they can help me.
Cheers!
Sam, interesting and inspiring. Please keep it coming. Looking fwd to seeing the finished product. Well done.
